Richard Bland WITB 2024 is a professional English golfer that has experienced a bumpy road most of his golfing career.

It wasn’t until 2021, he became the oldest first-time winner of the Betfred British Masters. He immediately called his parents (in tears) and shared the good news. As a golfing mom, this story resonated, so when I was in Miami in April this year, I had to catch up with Richard Bland.

In a recent interview, he shares that thanks to LIV Golf he’s a better golfer today than he ever was…

Do you know why? I wanted to know that too…

Every tournament at LIV, he plays amongst some of the best golfers in the world, rubbing shoulders with John Rahm, Bruce Koepka, and Phil Mickelson. Besides that, when you play on a team, you work together and brainstorm with one another.

While Blandy freely admits to never being able to hit a drive nearly as far as say John Rahm, he’s greatly improved his course management skills for those shots 150 yards and in. And since half of strokes usually come from putting, he’s been able to put up a good fight.

Who doesn’t love a comeback story? Let’s take a look at what the Englishman is carrying in his golf bag these days. You may be surprised to learn that he’s not playing all brand new clubs, and it’s an eclectic mix.

Richard Bland has been married twice. His first marriage was to Caroline that ended in divorce. After dating a couple years, he married Cartrin Nystrom, a flight attendant from the UK in a simple wedding ceremony on July 23, 2022. Dating during the COVID years, the two became inseparable and she was seen caddying for him.

Despite her lack of golf knowledge, she did her best on the bag. These days Richard Bland’s caddie is Greg Milne, and his brother, Rory.
